Plain English supporters around the world have voted "At the end of the day" as the most irritating phrase in the language.

Second place in the vote was shared by "At this moment in time" and the constant use of "like" as if it were a form of punctuation. "With all due respect" came fourth.

at the end of the day ("after all is said and done;" in the final analysis); - в конце концов

at this moment in time (right now; at the present time) - вместо now

like ("I was feeling like sick"

with all due respect - при всем уважении...

24/7 (around the clock; all the time; constantly): "He's a New Russian 24/7."

absolutely: "Oh right, absolutely."

address the issue ("face the issue;" not ignore a problem)

around (in place of "about" - "He ows me around 300$"

awesome = great

ballpark figure (an estimate; an approximation): "Give me a ballpark figure of how much I can expect to earn at this new job."

basically (leaving out the details) - короче...

basis ("on a weekly basis" in place of "weekly" and so on)

bear with me = be patient with me

between a rock and a hard place (in a dilemma; in a very bad situation with little possibility of escape)

blue sky (thinking): optimistic thinking (ср. "на голубом глазу"

boggles the mind: exceeds understanding, is irrational, or beyond one's ability to comprehend

bottom line ("Well... My car's broken, my wife is sick, and I wasn't really looking forward to going anyway" - "So, what you're saying is that you aren't coming / The bottom line is that you won't come, right?"

crack troops: elite soldiers (or specialists)

diamond geezer - не знаем! (((

glass half full (or half empty) - метафора оптимизма/пессимизма

going forward: "Let's discontinue discussing this unprofitable issue and go forward." = "Move on."

I hear what you're saying..= I can empathize with that.

in terms of... - касательно ("All right, so you've found a job in Alaska, and what will it mean in terms of our family life?"

it's not rocket science: it isn't arcane / doesn't require specialized knowledge in order to understand it / is not high-tech

literally - буквально; вообще имеется в виду "metaphorically": "He literally blew up!" "Bush is literally an idiot."

move the goal-posts: change (after the fact / ad hoc / unexpectedly / unfairly) the already agreed-upon target(s)

ongoing = continuing

prioritise: assign a priority to

pushing the envelope: during negotiations, to make an audacious bid / extreme offer (going to the limit / nearly exceeding previously established values or standards)

singing from the same hymn sheet: advancing identical opinions / concurring on everything (said of people whom you would not expect to be on the same side)

the fact of the matter is= to state it plainly

thinking outside the box: going beyond established methods and practices in solving a problem / taking an unheard-of approach / proposing a totally new solution / unconventional strategy

to be honest/to be honest with you/to be perfectly honest - откровенно говоря

touch base (with someone): drop by for a visit - зайти на огонек?

up to (in place of "about"

value-added (in general use): true increase in worth of something ("We aren't just taking another company's product and slapping our sticker on it; we've redesigned the product's housing to make it easier to use." "I haven't just listed the names of those attending the conference: My list also contains a short bio on each person - it has real added value."

И хотя они там цитируют Оруэлла: "George Orwell's advice from 1946 is still worth following: 'Never use a metaphor, simile, or other figure of speech which you are used to seeing in print.'"
